Definition SLU AQUA analysis of algal toxins. Extraction with mixture of iso-hexane, iso-propanol, and diethyl ether (3:5:1), 25 mL) was followed by derivatisation. A tetrabutylammonium (TBA) carbonate buffer (1.5 mL) made by dissolving sodium carbonate (Na2CO3; 4.24 g) and tetrabutyl ammonium hydrogen sulfate (TBAHSO4; 6.8 g) in water (100 mL) was added to the sample. Acetic acid anhydride (50 µL) was then added and the sample was mixed for 1 min, by shaking by hand. This process was repeated once more with an additional portion of acetic acid anhydride (50 µL). When the reaction was finalised, the organic solvent was isolated and reduced to 100 µL under a stream of nitrogen gas prior to instrumental analysis by MS-ENCI with methane as buffer gas
